Foot reflexology is based on the stimulation of the foot to achieve a beneficial and relaxing effect on the rest of the body.
Thanks to foot reflexology massage, beneficial effects can be obtained in numerous conditions such as rheumatic pain, stress, depression, anxiety, contractures, etc. obtaining a pleasant feeling of well-being after the session.
Reflexotherapy can be performed without creams or oils, or if preferred, with specific hypoallergenic creams or top quality oils, rich in antioxidants and easily absorbed to improve the elasticity and smoothness of the skin.
Foot reflexology is a technique included within holistic and alternative therapies that is based on the correspondence between different parts of the body and its reflex zone in the feet. By stimulating these points, overall health and well-being can be improved. By applying pressure to specific areas of the feet, tension can be relieved, blood circulation improved, and relaxation promoted. The practice of foot reflexology usually involves precise massage or pressure on the feet using the fingers, thumbs, and hands.
To find the origin of foot reflexology we must go back thousands of years. We can find references to foot massage in Egyptian papyri and we can also find traces in pre-Columbian cultures, but it is in the East where it reaches its greatest progress. Already in the middle of the 20th century, the knowledge of reflexology jumped to the Western world.
Reflexology is based on the principle that our feet, thanks to their more than 7,000 nerve endings, are connected to all areas and organs of our body. For the different schools of reflexology we can summarize that the body is represented schematically in our feet, the feet being a reflection of the body. Another of its principles is the use of these reflexes to benefit our state of health thanks to foot massages. In this way, depending on the area that is massaged or stimulated, these benefits will beneficially stimulate one or another body area. The fact that certain points on the foot are more sensitive or painful would thus be indicative of an alteration in the reflex zone. Specific massage in these areas helps to relieve the symptoms of the original problem and prevent other symptoms, all providing a pleasant feeling of relaxation and facilitating the elimination of stress.
Reflexology is relaxing in itself, making it very effective in relieving disorders caused by stress and anxiety, always using reflexology as a complement to other treatments and never as a substitute for medical treatment.
Reflexotherapy activates our immune system, reduces insomnia and sleep disorders and is helpful in migraines and headaches. It even exerts a certain influence on cholesterol and hypertension levels. It also reduces pain in general, back and extremity pain, rheumatic pain, fibromyalgia and, as we have said before, helps reduce stress levels, promoting recovery from depression and anxiety problems.
The foot reflexology is effective in certain conditions from the first sessions. This is the case of certain digestive problems or acute pain. However, it is common that several sessions are needed, especially when it comes to chronic ailments. It is advisable to explain the different health disorders to the therapist so that he or she can focus the reflexotherapy session on certain disorders and can make an estimate of the necessary sessions. This estimate may be increased or decreased depending on the response of each person, since each person responds differently to the sessions.
The duration of the sessions can vary between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on each person, it is best to dedicate between 25 and 30 minutes to each foot. The most common frequency is one session per week, although it will depend on the evolution of each individual person.
After the reflexology session, it is not advisable to take long walks, but rather rest for a couple of hours to give the feet time to react to the stimuli received during reflexology.
Usually there are no adverse effects after reflexology sessions. The usual effects are usually an activation of the urinary or intestinal system, or the need to hydrate; effects indicative that the therapy works satisfactorily, since they are mechanisms that our body establishes to facilitate the elimination of toxins.
It is advisable to inform the therapist in cases of pregnancy, diabetes, if we have a pacemaker or have significant coronary conditions, as well as if we have recently gone through an infectious or febrile process, since in these cases the therapist will assess the stimulation, or not, of certain parts of the foot to prevent possible contraindications.
The benefits of reflexology massage are many, but among the main ones we can find the following:
Stress Relief: Foot massage can help relax the body and mind significantly, thereby reducing stress and anxiety levels.
Improved blood circulation: Stimulating certain points on the feet can increase blood flow, which can benefit cardiovascular health and promote tissue oxygenation.
Pain relief: Reflexology massage, combined with different acupuncture points located on the feet can help relieve pain, including headaches, back pain, menstrual pain and other types of discomfort.
Stimulation of the lymphatic system: Depending on how the foot massage is performed, this technique can help stimulate the lymphatic system, which can promote the elimination of toxins and improve immune function.
Improved balance and general well-being: Many people feel greater well-being after receiving foot reflexology sessions, including a feeling of balance and harmony throughout the body.
Muscle Relaxation: Foot massage can help release muscle tension and improve flexibility, which can be beneficial for people who experience muscle stiffness due to stress or physical activity.
The benefits of foot reflexology can vary from person to person and not all individuals will experience the same results. On the other hand, foot reflexology should not be considered as a substitute for conventional medical care, but rather as a complementary therapy that can provide relief and well-being in certain circumstances.

The Structural Technique is a holistic, non-invasive therapy that helps restore the physical balance of the body and nervous system. It also helps to locate emotional charges and release them in the most appropriate order.
When we have fatigue, discouragement or physical pain, we generally find imbalances in the spine. These imbalances generate poor functioning of the nerves that can cause pain, discomfort or the malfunction of any organ. We consider that these imbalances come from an emotional conflict, whether conscious, non-conscious or from the environment, as well as emotional blockages of various kinds.
This method is compatible with any psychological, medical or pharmacological treatment.
Acupuncture is an ancient, painless and safe practice that aims to rebalance the energy of the body by manipulating different points of the body. In this healing technique used in traditional Chinese medicine, very thin needles are used to stimulate specific points in the body. Most of these points are placed on lines called "meridians".
In Acupuncture the disease is not defined by symptoms or by the name of a disease, but by energy imbalances, using terms such as Yin insufficiency or excess heat in the lungs.
The Chinese terms YIN and YANG refer to opposite energies that complement each other, and the term QI or CHI refers to vital energy.
